Glossary metrological

Accreditation:

procedure in which the competent authority gives formal recognition that a body or person is prepared to perform specific tasks.

Calibration

is the set of operations is to determine the value of a pattern errors, instrument or measurement equipment, process of adjustment or expressing them through tables or correction curves. It is also called indirect calibration to certain controls showing that the instrument in question is within the specifications.
According to the International Vocabulary of Metrology, 6.11:
The calibration result can be attributed to the directions, the corresponding values of the measurand or to determine the corrections to be applied in the directions. A calibration can also be used to determine other metrological properties such as the effects of influence quantities. calibration results can be shown in a document entitled, at times, calibration certificate or calibration report.

Calibration Methods:

Procedure technically defined to perform a calibration.

Pattern:

Material measure, measuring instrument, reference material or measuring system intended to define, perform, chat or reproduce a unit or one or more values of a quantity, to serve reference. Examples: standard of mass of 1 kg standard resistance of 100 W; ammeter pattern; cesium frequency standard.

Employer who is designated or widely acknowledged as having the highest metrological qualities and whose value is accepted without refer to other patterns of the same magnitude. The concept of primary standard applies both to the key figures to the derivatives.

Reference Standard:

According to the International Vocabulary of Metrology (6.6) is the pattern of the highest metrological quality available at a given location or in a particular organization, which are derived from measurements in the place.

working pattern: Pattern

commonly used to calibrate or check material measures, measuring instruments or reference materials. The International Vocabulary Metrology (6.7) states:

A working standard is usually calibrated with a reference standard.

A working standard used routinely to ensure that measures are carried out correctly is called a control pattern.

Traceability:

According to the International Vocabulary of Metrology (6.10), is the property of the result of a measurement or standard that it can interact with specific references, usually national or international standards for through an unbroken chain of comparisons, taking all the uncertainties determined.
